The Ancient Siam Civilization of Wat Yai Chaiyamongkhan
This is actually still a monastery and was one of the oldest and most important temples of the ancient Siam. It was built in the mid 1300s and the enormous pagoda was built by kind Naresuan the Great to celebrate his victory in 1592 over the Burmese Crown Prince in single-handed combat on elephant. The large Buddha images are a typical Ayutthaya style of Buddha statues. The park around the pagoda invites one to just sit down and enjoy life.
