Ancient City of Si Satchanalai

Wat Phra Sri Ratanamahathat

This is a large historic temple complex further downstream on the River Yom next to the village of Chalieng. The beautiful chedi there is of early 15^th century Ayutthaya style. One can climb up the narrow and steep stairs to the main shrine, which we did with a bunch of school children. The monastery is still in use and is a relatively quiet place, as is the village on the other side of the river.
