Wat Pichaiyat
The large white Prang is visible from far and the original temple here already existed before Bangkok was founded. In 1841 a new temple was built and named Wat Phichayayatikaram Woravihara already . The monks in this temple are very happy to show visitors around, open the temple buildings and like to practice their English language skills. In the one of the towers next to the main prang is a large foot print of Buddha, decorated with the 108 signs of true faith. Wat Phichayat was one of the first temples we visited in Bangkok back in 2000 and we have been back several times since. The temple has also changed quite a bit, has been renovated and the run down housing behind the temple has been removed. It is now a well visited center for meditation and worship and lots of activities going on all the time. We went back regularly in 2010 2011 and 2012 to visit a friend who is ordained in this temple and because it is a great place to visit during Buddhist holidays like Asalha Bucha Day or Thai New Year.
