Temples of Thailand - a photographic journey
Bangkok Area Provinces: Central North North-East West South East
Wat Tham Khao Pun
As the name indicates (tham) this is a cave temple on the outskirts of Kanchanaburi town. There is some bad stories about this temple regarding a British tourist having been murdered here in 1995, but this was not the reason for our visit. We wanted to go down into the cave system and see the Buddha images in there. There is tourism here, that's why we had to pay for entry and we were walked through the caves by a local resident (which required more money at the end). One actually comes out at a different place than the entrance, so we kind of did a little round trip under ground.
