Temples of Thailand - a photographic journey Bangkok Area Provinces: Central North North-East West South East

Wat Tham Mangkon Thong
Also referred to as the temple of the floating nun, it gets pretty busy here when the busses arrive. We were lucky (or not, whatever you prefer) that two full busses of Japanese tourists arrived when we visited. For some donations the gates of a small pool opened and we really saw the floating nun. This has been a tradition here since the late 1980s and people come from all over Thailand to see it. The "cave temple of the golden dragon" also offers a long series of stairs up into the mountain where the caves with Buddha images inside are located.
