Wat Ton Son
Wat Ton Son was a temple we came across by accident looking for the next temple on our itinary. What a pleasant surprise when we entered the main building. This is one of the most beautiful images and interior we have seen so far on our trips throughout Thailand. The HUGE (believe me...) image inside the temple is breath taking. I have included a picture below which actually shows a human being in front of the right arm of the Buddha statue. Rather disturbing to us "farangs" was the fact that the employees working in the temple watched really loud TV programs inside the building to the feet of the Buddha image. On our second visit in 2007 dozens of people actually counted and sorted through money at the feet of the huge statue, which reminded us of the fact that some temples are run like a business. Outside the building is the 19.5 meters high statue of Somdej Phra Sri Muang Thong.
