Wat Luang
Wat Luang is the most important temple of Phrae and also the oldest one, established in 829. The original gold Buddha image, Phra Chao Saen Thong, was stolen by the Ngeuws (Shans) in 1902 and is now replaced with Phra Chao Saen Luang. Maybe that is why the front of the Ubosot is made of brick and looks like an English house. On the compound are many other things to see like the old Ubosot, a beautiful bell tower, beautiful houses for the monks and of course the large octagonal chedi. To the side of the Ubosot is an excellent museum housing beautiful and rare Buddha images, like a golden image, which is securely locked behind glass and iron bars.
