Wat Phumin
Wat Phumin is typically the first temple to visit in the City of Nan. It is definitely a highlight when visiting the North of Thailand. The main image in the temple, Phra Prathan Wat Phumin, consists actually of 4 Buddha images. The Ubosot and the Viharn are combined here into one building in the form of a cross, with four entrances. There is so much fine detail in the building and so many murals on the wall, that we had to make several rounds in order to see it all. The temple was built in 1596 and is considered the earliest of such structures in Thailand. As through most of our trip through Nan in December 2004, we had almost no other tourists around us - photographers heaven!
