Wat Nantharam
Wat Nantharam was our favorite temple on the entire 3000km tour through the eastern part of the North. It was the first temple in Phayao Province on the way up to Chiang Rai, when we just crossed this province. Because of the winding mountain roads we had to drive we were not even sure that we will make it to this temple before sunset but as always we got lucky. It is a Shan-style wooden building with a multi-tiered roof, a ceiling which is decorated with colored glass and 68 pillars covered with black lacquer and gilded. The principal Buddha image is made of teak wood and is done in Mandalay-style. Perfect Beauty!
