Wat Chedi Luang
Wat Chedi Luang was the first temple we visited in Chiang Saen, a city we long planned to visit because of it's history and importance since ancient times. Various accounts place the date when the chedi was built in either 1291 or 1331. The octagonal chedi has an impressive height of 58 meters. On the temple compound are several ruined temple buildings and a viharn with a large image of Phra Singh 1, the Chiang Saen-style Buddha image.
