Wat Phra That Pha Ngao
Wat Phra That Pha Ngao is located outside of Chiang Saen on the base on top of a hill. This is a huge temple complex that is spread out all the way to the top of the mountain, again with an excellent look into the valley and the Golden Triangle. The original and and ancient temple here fell victim to the floods of the Maekong river and when building a new temple they found ancient ruins and remains of an old brick Buddha image. On the mountain is a big white Chedi, called Phra Borommathat Phutthanimit Chedi, and a bit lower stands a newer Ubosot that is elaborately decorated and set in a golf course like lawn.
