Wat Phra That Chom Wae
Wat Phra That Chom Wae is south of Chiang Rai near the city of Phan. A beautiful standing Buddha image picturesquely fits into the green hills there. The first time we visited here in 2005 the image was in the process of being renovated. So we had to go back on another trip in 2008. The large Viharn hall is also worth to see with it's large Buddha statue of Luang Phor Phet inside. Monks are using the Viharn for a quiet walking meditation, so we were very careful not not disturb them. Behind the Viharn is the Phra That Chedi. A large sign at Wat Phra That Chom Wae told us about several other temples with contain a relic of Lord Buddha and contain the word "Chom" in their names. So, we changed our plan and took an extra drive down highway 118 to visit those temples called Wat Phra That Chom Pho, Chom Chaeng, Chom Mork Gaeo and later Chom Cho.
