Wat Yai Takinaram
Updated 2008: On our first trip to Nakhon Nayok in 2005 we only visited one temple, but Wat Takinaram (or Thakkhinaram) is certainly one of my favorite ones so far. It is an old temple, which was built by Lao people in 1780. The old Phra Ubosot is built by artisans from Vientiane and though it has been renovated and re-built it is a perfect example of a Lao-style temple. It has beautifully carved doors, a simple but impressively painted ceiling and the gable is still in it's orginal wood carving. We went back to the temple in 2008 but unfortunately the friendly abbot from our first trip was nowhere in sight and the temple was closed. But even from outside only it is a very nice temple to visit.
