Wat Pa Daet
Our last temple we visited in Mae Chaem Valley and in the province of Chiang Mai on our second trip became our favorite temple on this 3000km trip. We were so overwhelmed by the friendly monks and the perfect settings of this temple that it threw our time plans completely apart. The Ubosot sits outside the temple buildings in the middle of a moat, surrounded by trees with a good view over the rice fields. A naga lined bridge leads over the moat and the inside is decorated with modern but beautiful paintings about everyday Thai life as well as Buddhist scenes. On the main temple ground is a beautiful Viharn with old murals along the upper sides of the walls. This temple alone was worthwhile the long roundtrip from Chiang Mai City.
