Wat Suwanawas

Wat Suwanawas is located in Kantharawichai in the Province of Mahasarakham. Most people here only know the ancient Buddha image called Phra Buddha Ming Muang. The abbot of the temple tried to explain a lot of things to us but he didn't speak any English and our Thai-Isan language skills weren't really useful either. The standing Buddha image is of Dvaravati-style and over 1000 years old. The small temple also has a nice Ubosot and Viharn, but the abbot told us that someone stole the old wooden doors of the  smaller building  in order to sell them as antiques. Unbelievable!
