Wat Triphum
We had long planned to see the beautiful Phra Buddha Maha Thammaraja Statue in Wat Triphum, but Phetchaboon province is really out of the way. Beautiful - but far! This Lopburi-style image sits in an ancient temple, built in 1557, however the buildings are of a newer date. There are lots of stories about the Buddha image, which is housed in a specially built mondop building. The provincial governor performs a special ceremony on Sart Thai Day, on which the image is immersed into the waters of the river.
