Wat Pho Chai
The province of Loei just kept getting better the further we drove. Wat Pho Chai is located in Na Phueng in a very rural area of Na Haeo district. Rice farms and hills are the main views in every direction. The temple was built in the late Ayutthaya-period. The Ubosot's walls are covered with beautiful murals depicting the life of Lord Buddha. One of the main reasons for our visit was the Lan Chang-style Buddha image of Phra Chao Ong Saen. Stories say that wherever this image is installed there will be no droughts, hence the image is also called Phra Buddha Fon Saen Ha. As elsewhere the images are nowadays protected by iron bars.
