Angkhang Shrine
Not a temple but still a Buddhist place of importance, the Angkhang Shrine is located on top of the 1300 meter Doi Angkhang Mountain. It contains relics of Lord Buddha and the inscription reads "This shrine will be everlasting Monument for the worship by all human and deities". Doi Angkhang is a very remote place in Northern Thailand, very close to the Burmese border. Driving up here through the backroads is a very rewarding experience and brings one through what they call "Thailand's little Switzerland" and mountain tribe villages.
