Wat Triphum

Also located in Tha Uthen district, Wat Triphum houses the important standing Buddha image of Phra Bang. It is a Lan Chang-style image, cast in 1465 A.D. in Laos and brought to this side of the river. During it's history, the image had been hidden for safekeeping and then been installed at Wat Phra That Tha Uthen first. During Songkran New Year, the Buddha image is taken around in a procession.
