Wat Sam Naksong Palata
Another local temple in the hills south of Umphang is Wat Sam Naksong Palata. In the neighbourhood is the Karen (mountain tribe) village of Palata and a beautiful waterfall with the same name. Again, this was one temple that thought they had to cut dozens of teak wood trees to build another temple structure. However beautiful we find these teak wood temples, it saddens us and some local people we spoke to, to see these trees cut. Thank god (or thank the Buddha) for the nearby Thung-Yai Naresuean Wildlife Sanctuary which is a World Heritage Site and protects Nature on a large scale.
