Wat Pa Charoen Tham
Wat Pa Charoen Tham is one of those temple located along highway 108 from Chiang Mai to Chom Thong, which we often passed by in the past. On this specific trip we planned to purposely stop at all major temples along this route. Pat Pa Charoen Tham is HUGE and in order to see it one has to bring enough time. The park-like temple grounds are filled with statues and buildings. The only thing we missed were monks. We didn't see any on this huge temple. A large reclining Buddha image is also located in the temple as is a sculpture of village people pulling a large white eel, which is connected to a legend where a nearby village was destroyed in A.D.1848 with 650 houses destroyed and Wat Sri Don Chai having collapsed in the nearby Sariam Marsh.
