Wat Benchamabopit
The temple of the ‘five princes’ is also known as the marble temple. The full name is Wat Benjamabopit Dusitwanaram or in short Wat Ben. It was built in 1899 from Carrara marble and is a classic example of the temple architecture of Thailand, while showing distinct European neo-classical influence. The main building, the Ubosot, is guarded by two white marble lion statues, while the cloisters offer a wide variety of 52 Buddha statues, which let those who are interested in Buddhism, understand the meaning of the different gestures and designs.
