Wat Banpran

A very special temple in Angthong province is Wat Banpran with its main Buddha image Luang Phor Kraithong. We were told that the image was cast at the end of the Lopburi period and the beginning of the Sukhothai period. The friendly monk who showed us around and explained us the history of the temple showed us some old pictures where 6 Buddha heads where initially in front of the main image. They have now been placed onto full bodies and placed around Luang Phor Kraithong. We also met the abbot of the temple who blessed some images for us. We spent so much time in the temple that we left just as it was getting dark.
