Wat Po
Our 800th temple to visit was a very special one in the northernmost point of the province of Ubon Ratchathani. Wat Po is located in Khemarat on the banks of the Mekong river. The Ubosot contains the beautiful statue of Phra Chao Ong Saen. A friendly monk explained us the various Buddha images of the area, of which Ong Saen is one of the important ones, facing the Mekong river (here north). We were also shown a smaller jade Buddha image, which was locked away in one of the buildings because it had been stolen before. On the temple ground is also a large seated Buddha image, which had been installed with the blessing of H.M. The Queen.
