Wat Amphawan
Wat Amphawan is an old temple close to the district office of Ongkharak but actually located in the district of Ban Na. We met a friendly security guard for the village who showed us around the temple and told us that it is over 300 years old. The old Ubosot was in real bad shape and we were afraid things would fall down from the ceiling, but we loved the stucco work above the door frames and the wooden gable. Inside is just one Buddha image flanked by two standing monks. Obviously American soldiers helped to built a nearby school a few years ago, since we had to visit it too. There are also some old wooden buildings with teak wood carvings inside, which are now empty.
