Wat Sa Kaeo

In September of 2008 we finally undertook our trip to Sa Kaeo province (the last province we had not been to, except for the south). Naturally our first stop was in Wat Sa Kaeo in the city with the same name. We wanted to pay our respect to the Buddha statue Phra Buddha Ratana Mongkhol, which was created in 1934. We also visited the pavilion which houses the remains of Luang Phor Thong, the abbot who had the Buddha built. Sadly at the time of our visit the current abbot had just died and the huge sala was all set up for the funeral ceremony.
