Wat Sri Bun Rueang

I was long looking forward to visit the temples in Mae Chai district of Phayao because of its important Buddha images and beautiful temples. We also have family in the area, hence have heard about a lot of temples before we even made it up here. Wat Sri Bun Rueang was our first stop on our round trip. The abbot of the temple had the Ubosot opened for us so we could pay our respect to the main Buddha image Phra Chao Ong Dam. He also told us more about the temple's history when we sat with him in his quarters. The abbot was one of the youngest abbots I have ever met and it was nice to see young people filling such important roles in rural temples.
