Phra Buddha Surinthara Mongkhol

A huge white Buddha statue called Phra Buddha Surinthara Mongkhol which is highly revered by the people in Surin province sits on top of a mountain in Phanom Sawai National Park. The Buddha image is looking east and should best be visited in the morning hours, otherwise the sun will be behind it. A long stairway which is lined by bells leads to the image. Part of the Park are a stupa for Luang Phu Dule Athulo's remains, ancient ruins and several other shrines and statues. While it is a place of worship, it is quite busy specially on weekends.
