Wat Phra Boromathat
Wat Phra Boromathat was one of those temples where we were glad to have a car, which enabled us to get outside the city and drive to the small village of Ban Tak, along the river Ping. The temple is visible from far as it sits picturesquely on a hill and the large golden chedi in Shan style is reflected in the bright sunlight. The chedi is a copy of the Shwedagon pagoda in Burma and is surrounded by 16 smaller pagodas. Besides the temple and the area itself, the river and the village are really worth to see as well. We went back for a second visit in December 2005.
