Wat Chantaram Worawihan

Wat Chantaram

Initially we didn't even plan to visit Wat Chantaram but our taxi driver could not find the close-by Wat Pho Nimit, so we got out and just walked.  It is a beautiful temple which seemed to just have been renovated at the time of our visit. The Chinese gable and style was said to be of a later date than the original construction of the temple, which goes back to the Ayutthaya-period. On the back wall of the Ubosot is a rare high-relief crowned Buddha image made of wood and tin, in the position of pacifying the ocean.
