Wat Mai Sukhontharam
Wat Mai Sukhontharam in Nakhon Chaisi district of Nakhon Pathom was a temple we specially visited for the Atthamee Bucha Ceremony in June. Bangkok Post reported on it and we arranged transportation to attend and spent all day and evening at the temple. The village in which the temple is located is one of the most friendly places we have been to and during the festival food and drinks were offered to us almost by the minute.
The morning prayers happened in the Vihara upstairs, with local people providing food for the monks and listening to the sermon. There are several shrines with Buddha images along the main way through the temple. The Ubosot sits a bit to the side of it. A large reclining Buddha image is part of the Atthamee Bucha Ceremony where up to 500 monks and Buddhists perform the ceremony.
