Wat Mahathat Worawihan
Wat
Mahathat is in the middle of the town of Phetchaburi. It is said to have been
built during the Khmer’s presence in the region, more than 800 years ago.
Inside the Wihan Luang are the three major Buddha images of Phetchaburi.
While the main prang is the most visible item of the temple, which is visible
from the hills around town, there is much detail work to be enjoyed here like
murals or excellent stucco work. This is a very busy temple, with dancers, music
and lots of people and it is a good starting point for a walk through the city.
